The main message we got from the founders of Seismic Dance Event while sitting down with them last week was, “Covid can’t stop us.” Their words hit like a breath of fresh air.
Kelly Gray and Andrew Parsons are the power couple behind Seismic; their confidence in and passion for their music festival brought up all the emotions we’ve been holding back for the past year – since the last time we physically danced on festival grounds, drowning in the bass and a sea of strangers.
We’ve been waiting so long for our first festival back, and when we saw the lineup, we knew this had to be it. See for yourself (and maybe cry about it, too):
If you haven’t heard of it, Seismic Dance Event is a boutique music festival in Austin, Texas, catering to house and techno music lovers (aka, us). Its third edition is set to take place from May 21st to May 23rd, 2021.
In our interview with Kelly and Andrew, they share how Seismic was born, the challenges they’ve faced in preparing to produce the event despite covid, and some of their big plans for 2021, like opening a new venue.
If you need this festival to happen just as badly as we do, Andrew offers some reassuring words: “We almost feel obligated to make this happen. So many festivals are calling it quits.”
Kelly adds, “If you do all the things right, it can happen, and we should make it happen to set a precedent that we can adapt if we need to.”
These incredible humans understand how much the live festival experience means to us all.
Kelly: “It’s not just a party – people are very passionate, and this is their lifestyle – how they’re able to take a breather and just enjoy their lives.”
It was an absolute pleasure getting to know Andrew and Kelly and their vision for Seismic 3.3 – check out our conversation with them below:
